The Vietnam News Agency

The Vietnam News Agency is Vietnam's official national news service. It provides English-language news and information on political, economic, social, cultural, scientific and technological issues in Vietnam and the world.

Founded on September 15, 1945, the first wire service bulletin released by VNA carried the Declaration of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the SRV), read by President Ho Chi Minh at Ha Noi's Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945.

VNA has developed into a national and international information centre and carries extensive reports on Vietnamese daily life, as well as the nation's expanding tourism and industry sectors.

In addition to its Hanoi office, it operates regional offices in Ho Chi Minh City (Southern Vietnam) and Da Nang City (Central Vietnam), together with a network of 61 bureaux around the country. It also has 25 overseas offices in Asia, Europe, Africa, America and Oceania.

VNA has been honoured many times in Vietnam for its great contribution to the nation's development.
