ANTARA, Indonesia's National News Agency, was founded on December 13, 1937, and was the first to announce the proclamation of Indonesian independence on August 17, 1945.

Headquartered in Jakarta, ANTARA has bureaux in all provinces and is staffed by nearly 200 correspondents who report on all aspects of this ethnically-diverse, strategically-located nation with the largest Muslim population in the world.

ANTARA provides news seven days a week from the national down to the village level. The agency also has bureaux in New York, Kuala Lumpur, Cairo and elsewhere.
